Two new research support services

Staff at the UOC Library can help you detect plagiarism in papers or address doubts relating to journals' editorial policies.
Our Library for Research team have opened up two new services for researchers, teaching staff and doctoral students: the plagiarism detection service and editorial policies support.
Plagiarism detection service
"We can help you check whether a research paper has been plagiarized, or to see whether an unpublished article contains anything that hasn't been properly cited," explained Oriol Solé, who is in charge of this service.
The service will also provide you with a report showing the match percentage between the document analysed and other digital sources, as well as their locations and references. You will then be sent an interpretation of the result, to help you work out what action to take next.
Editorial policies support
"When an author signs a contract with a publishing house, the exploitation rights (reproduction and distribution) over the work are often assigned on an exclusive basis, which means that, without the permission of the publisher, the authors cannot disseminate the work through any other channel," said Sebastiano Giorgi-Scalari, who is in charge of this service.
With this new service, the guidance on editorial policies you are given can help clear up doubts about Creative Commons licences, embargo periods your publication may be subject to, or the article version that you can publish in open access (pre-print, post-print or published).
To use either of these services, just complete the corresponding form and we'll answer within a maximum of 48 working hours.
